"Watches are so named as a reminder - if you don't watch carefully what you do with your time, it will slip away from you. " -Drew Sirtors

So, I’m sitting here on this Friday night on duty. It’s the long weekend because of Patriots Day on Monday so a lot of the residents ended up going home. I don’t think its been this quiet when I’ve been on RA Duty all year, so its giving me time to think..and think a lot. So I already finished my usual Resident Assistant duties of the night, I did the first round, finished my posters for my program, and even got a Raspberry Smoothie from one of my Residents, Nicole ( I owe you one). I’ve got a few more hours on duty, so like everyone else on this earth, I began my facebook stalking While my dire boredom got the best of me, I stumbled upon a group… Bridgewater State College Class of 2013. Then it also hit me, today is the start of April Vacation for the high school kids..and 2 years ago, I was packing and getting pumped for my senior class trip to Florida. I just can’t believe it. After this month, I will be done with my Sophomore year of college, as well as finishing up with being a first year RA. Where does time go?

On Duty, Halloween Night 08. We had to dress up!

……I left for my sophomore year of school in the end of August where I began a whole new life at Bridgewater compared to the past year. I had a fresh start to make an impact with new students as my Dad, brother and I moved my things into the opposite freshman residence hall that I lived in last year, Shea- Durgin Hall. I was moving in ten days earlier than everyone else to begin training for being a Resident Assistant. I was instantly thrown into a group of students who are just like me, finally! After my freshman year of trying to find people who had the same mindset and goals..a year later I found them! Honestly, no one can tell me anything different. I have one of the most rewarding jobs on campus and I will speak for hours on why but I’ll just give you the brief overview. Living in a freshman residence hall, I am able to see my residents, along with 600 others change right before my eyes in the period of 9 months. I moved them in, all of them scared, worried and excited all at the same time. I began to really get to know my residents and know my building as the semester picked up with new and exciting activities for people to join. At this point in the semester, I have seen it all. I’ve seen heartbreaks, bad grades, being cut from an athletic team, making bad decisions, choosing classes, questioning everything, finding that real core group of friends and the greatest thing is I can relate to ALL OF THAT. I love being able to work with everyone! I will go to the end of the line in order for their questions to be answered, I live for it. So some of you may be reading and saying wtf…but it’s me, I love being able to lead someone in a positive direction and being able to lead a floor of 68 + , it’s so rewarding in its own way. The end.
